| Hi friends!
I want to let you know about a wonderful experience I had this past weekend. Some of you have heard this, so just skip to the last few sentences.
To make a long story short, I met a client this spring who was pregnant and unsure what she was going to do... she got information & an ultrasound, but left planning to end her pregnancy. I couldn't get ahold of her, and figured this is what happened. However, later this fall I got to see her again - still pregnant! She now was thinking of adoption... I have worked with her for awhile & was invited to the birth of her baby! I got to see this precious little one enter the world! And, to make the story even better, the mother has turned her life back to Christ!!! I can't share more details, but I think it's good for us to give testimony to each other when we see God working in front of us.
I want to share this blessing, but also ask for your prayers for for this mother, & birthmothers in general. To release a child to another family is an intensly sacrificial act. It is to love a child as God loves us, laying your own life down for another (I know parenting is too.. but this is to sacrifice your own parenting opportunity). I can't begin to describe the emotions & thoughts I've had over the past week... and I've only been a witness standing by. There is a grief process that occurs for each birthmother, and though each person has their own experience, I know it is a difficult one for all. Please pray for believers to enter her life so that her lonliness will be diminished, for her courage to continue with her adoption plan, and for protection in her life against the one that wants us away from Him.
Thank you for your support! I don't plan to continue sharing client related things, but this one has been heavy on my heart.

| hi friends!
here's a quick update on my life (other than what you already know from my hubby)... * my art show went well... but Mariah did even better! See her website for her beautiful pottery & handpainted cards mariahdwestdesigns.com * I will be taking custom orders for jewelry or personalized magnets for Christmas gifts! You can pick out stuff for each * our kitty's future is yet to be determined. as of now he's confined to the bathroom & i give him medicine twice a day.... we'll see how long this lasts * work is busy but good... and i'm gearing up to apply for the Biostatistics Master's Degree at Grand Valley I'm planning on next fall. What is Biostatistics you ask? Biostatistics: The application of statistical techniques to scientific research in the life and health sciences. Didn't know I was a statistics nerd, did you?
last, I've been thinking about politics lately (duh) I'm wondering.... Is it good to have an administration of the same party that dominates the Congress? AND, if most Presential elections result in an administration of a different party than the one before (the exception being George Sr. following Reagen)... are we really getting anywhere?
Nothing too profound, and I'm not normally one for politics, but it seems important to think through stuff once in awhile. And, for the record... I'm with lighthouse dave on the legacy deal.

| No tv = earlier bedtime (unless the internet sucks you in to the 'unaware-of-time' zone) In other news, we are less than 2 wks from move in date - yeah! We are excited and looking forward to it. Now if I can just be excited about sorting through all of our stuff & packing...

| so, i figured it was about time for my quarterly post. things are going well lately:
after nearly one year of my job, i am feeling like everything is all caught up, i've gone through all but two file drawers of things i've 'inherited' and some projects i've started are gaining momentum. anyone know where to find a grant for a non-profit looking to do multivariate correlation statistics on pretty unique data we've been collecting for the past 20 YEARS? that project is up next.
andy and i are approaching our 2nd anniversary already. in the words of my loving husband just a few weeks ago, "it seems like we've been married forever" after discussing it further, i think thats a good thing... and for those of you who think it might've been an offensive comment.. i feel like that too.
my hobby turned art show participant is going well. i had my first 'booth' at the artist open house at the bed & breakfast a month ago. i have put together some unique jewelry & decapauge home items.
it's been good times & I'm looking forward to doing a few more
shows this year.my next one - the bazaar bizarre in eastown is fast approaching. June 17 from 9am-7pm.
i've discovered that i find GRD's free beer & hotwings morning show quite entertaining.
we gave our tv away (and gained a very small one we haven't plugged in). life without tv makes you realize you have more free time than you thought. i'm actually reading for fun again.
oh, also coming up is lifewalk for grand rapids - a few pregnancy care centers carry out their own walk. i will be giving tours at the open house at my workplace. you can participate by walking (1 mi. or 3 mi. route), pledging $, or praying for more people to learn about & own the mission we carry out every day in our own 'backyard'. Day: Sat. June 17, Time: 9am walk begins (register before)... there will be a praise band, face painting & prizes for the kids, and a new perspective of things that happen in downtown Grand Rapids for many!
and, last but not least, we are looking forward for an opportunity to buy a house in the oakdale neighborhood (details not yet complete, but yet to come)!
thanks all! though i don't post much, i still get the daily subscription & love to hear what is happening in your lives.
!bendiciones!

| Cookie Pudding or Cookie Toffee?
Directions: prepare cookie dough as directed on bag of chocolate chips *important: leave out 1 cup of flour*
For pudding, cook just under 10 min. For toffee, forget to set the timer and cook 13 min - 'cookie' will be a brittle, sweet, brown substance.
CAVEAT: this is NOT one of those 'created by mistake' things like a post-it note made while trying to develop a proper formula for glue. Rather, it is a tragic mistake that can be made by even experienced cookie-makers...but it does waste potentially good dough.
Oh well.. at least my husband is willing to give anything sweet a try more cooking plunders to come....
